# Break the Cube. Questions for a champion

Break The Cube, pure logic game with simple rules. Deduction and representation in the space to place blocks.

## break the cube

break the cube it’s a pure logic game with simple rules. Using your deduction and spatial representation skills, ask the right questions and try to place your blocks correctly to win.

• D4?
• Lack ! H6?
• He sank my aircraft carrier!

Seniors will remember this ad for flowed headdressalso know as Naval battle, in its non-commercial format, which was reproduced (and undoubtedly continues to be reproduced) in the backgrounds of the classrooms. Among the students subscribed to seats near the radiator.

Less discreet than car racing on paper, it’s preferable in large classrooms, or for lessons with a slightly deaf or… disillusioned teacher.

Place boats or objects on a grid. And try to guess your location before your opponent. A concept that works and lasts. The test with this break the cubethat dusts this type of games.

## The game

break the cube takes the same format as break the code, by the same author and publisher. If in the previous title we had to guess, deduce a… code, in this one we now have to guess, build a shape using cubes.

Within break the cube, the players will have to try to guess the shape created by their neighbor on the left. While trying to prevent his correct neighbor from guessing his.

To do this, each person will receive two game grids, a screen, 3 blocks (small, medium and large) to build their shape on a grid behind the screen, and 3 blocks to try to reproduce the neighbor’s shape. on the other grid behind the screen.

Forms must follow simple placement rules: no overhangs, no off-grid space, at least 2 and no more than 3 stories. As long as these points are respected, everything is possible.

In turn, each person will be able to ask a question to their neighbor on the right:

• What do you see in square X: The person then gives the color visible in the corresponding square on their grid, viewed from above.
• What do you see at Y: The person then gives the colors visible from this grid point, from top to bottom, with no indication of distance. Everyone else must also say what they see from that grid point.
• Is your form the following? : If the reproduced shape matches, the game is won and the round ends, in case someone else has also found the shape of his neighbor. If the shape does not match, the game continues.

### Variant

Note that there is a variant in which each person will receive a sheet that will allow them to write down the answers given by their neighbor, to reduce the difficulty, eliminating the memorization of the game.

## Material

the editor of break the cube has chosen an aesthetic that I would describe as “Works”, which is very reminiscent Flat. The material is predominantly blue for the cardboard and paper parts (ie the grids, screens and rulers), with white writing and drawings.

The pieces used to build the shapes are made of wood, with pastel colors. the the material is of good qualitywith attention to detail and a good overall impression.

The box is the right size for the material it contains. Which is always good (I’m looking at you machi koro 2), for our shelves, for the planet.
