Firefighters and other emergency services are in high demand from the start of the weekend. Serious traffic accidents, a suicide and a brawl with the use of firearms are already deplorable.
The night of Friday the 7th to Saturday the 8th of October was dotted with a series of diverse events. The Guadeloupe Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) informed us of the most significant dramas of the night.
Each time, the police were present at the scene, as required.
A 32-year-old man ended his life by hanging himself, early in the evening, yesterday, on Chemin de Plantin, in Vieux-Habitants. The body was discovered between 6:30 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. by relatives of the unfortunate man, who depended on him before the arrival of help. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful.
The doctor of the Mobile Emergency and Resuscitation Service (SMUR) declared the death.
Shortly before 01:40 a.m. this Saturday, there was a high-kinetic head-on collision between two cars on National Route 1, at the entrance to Chemin de la Rose, in Goyave.
A 24-year-old man is seriously injured; paramedics suspect a pelvic fracture. He received medical transfer to the University Hospital Center (CHU).
Another man, aged 47, was slightly injured; he has dermabrasion on his face. He was also transferred to the University Hospital, in a minor condition.
At 3:11 am, the SDIS was called again to intervene in a traffic accident, on National Route 2, in the Borel section, in Lamentin; another high-kinetic head-on collision between two cars.
Four people were on board. Two were hospitalized at the University Hospital: a 32-year-old man in serious condition with pain in the pelvis and throughout the right side, as well as a 28-year-old woman with minor back injuries. Two men aged 22 and 27, uninjured, were left behind.
Two hours later, at 5:12 a.m., a two-wheeler was damaged, alone, at the Blanchard roundabout in Pointe-à-Pitre. The victim, the 23-year-old pilot of the machine, who was not wearing a helmet, is in serious condition: he suffers a facial injury and, at the time of the firefighters’ intervention, had low blood pressure. .
He also went to inflate the number of patients in the CHU.
3:34 am, at Fonds Cacao, in Capesterre-Belle-Eau: a 24-year-old man was injured in the left arm by a firearm, but also in the stomach on the left side with a knife. Injuries produced after a fight on public roads.
The victim, whose injuries are not considered serious, was escorted to the CHU, both by the firefighters and the SMUR, as well as by the gendarmes.
