orange hydrogen promises

Certain geological formations have the property of being able to generate hydrogen naturally, by oxidation-reduction between the iron contained in their minerals and water. Since iron makes up about 5% by mass of the earth’s crust, our planet (A planet is a celestial body that orbits the Sun or another star in…) turns out to be a gigantic factory hydrogen (Hydrogen is a chemical element with symbol H and atomic number 1.). A team of research (Scientific research designates in the first place all actions undertaken with a view to…) made up of scientists from the CNRS-INSU has developed a technique, “orange hydrogen”, to accelerate this natural production in order to exploit it for the energy transition. His calculations show that there are several million years of hydrogen (relative to current consumption) sleeping under our feet.

This orange hydrogen, referring to the color (Color is the eye’s subjective perception of one or more wave frequencies…) orange oxides iron (Iron is a chemical element, with symbol Fe and atomic number 26. It is…) products, combines hydrogen generation and CO sequestrationtwo. In fact, the target geological formations can also serve as a receptacle for trapping COtwo. When they come into contact withWater (Water is an omnipresent chemical compound on Earth, essential for everyone…) enriched with COtwoa the second (Second is the feminine of the second adjective, which comes immediately after the first or which…) chemical reaction (A chemical reaction is a transformation of matter during which…) occurs what precipitates carbonates, that is, COtwo in solid form, thus preventing it from participating in thegreenhouse effect (The greenhouse effect is a natural process that, for a given absorption of energy…) and in global warming (Global warming, also called global warming, or…).

The exploitation of orange hydrogen is supported by wellsinjection (The word injection can have several meanings 🙂 and extraction such as geothermal power plants. A well allows the injection of water previously loaded with COtwo on the target rock formation. The water seeps into the stone (Rock, from the popular Latin rocca, means any material that forms the crust…)reacts, gets rid of its COtwo, is enriched in hydrogen and then recovered through extraction wells. This technique worked in carrot (The carrot (Daucus carota) is a biennial plant of the Apiaceae family (formerly…) of rock of a few centimeters, now it remains to climb it.

Although today, almost 96% of the world’s hydrogen production comes from fossil hydrocarbons such as coal or natural gas (Natural gas is a fossil fuel, it is a mixture of hydrocarbons present…) (hydrogen black or gray), and that the alternatives (Alternatives (original title: Destiny Three Times) is a novel by Fritz Leiber published…) decarbonized using theelectrolysis (In the chemical industry, electrolysis is a method of separating elements or…) of water together with renewable energies (green hydrogen) are extremely voracious in terms of Energy (In common sense, energy designates everything that allows you to do work, produce energy, etc.) and critical metals (nickel, cobalt (Cobalt is a chemical element, with symbol Co and atomic number 27 and…)…), orange hydrogen seems to be a cheap solution, low in energy and critical resources.
