news hardware You will fall in love with a robot, science says so
While computing technologies are advancing faster than ever, all sorts of manufacturers and scientists take AI research very seriously. It is in this context that a scientific study has analyzed the question of the romantic and sexual attachment of humans to robots.
Scientists reveal study on human attraction to robots
It was at Concordia University, in the United States, where the researcher Simon Dubé became interested in the market for sex robots. With the advancement of robotics, but especially of artificial intelligence, scientists at this university have questioned the possible relationships that we could have with robots in the coming years.
The study led by Simon Dubé tried to take into account the different personality traits that could lead us to accept having romantic and sexual relationships with a robot. The study repeatedly uses the term erotophilia, which can be explained by the positive reaction and sensations due to sensuality. This notion is important for the future, as Simon Dubé seeks to understand whether the market for sex robots can expand in the coming years.
According to him, this market could gain more and more followers and be more common in our societies.
It is extremely important to understand who the main buyers are and what requests the robots respond to.
According to Dubé, companies that produce this type of robot need to know more about their market, the people they are targeting with this type of product, in order to better adapt their manufacturing. All data used by this research was produced through a sample of 500 adults through an online questionnaire. Through the test model called Big Five, which allows broadly defining personality types, the researchers were able to notice typical profiles that could be interested in sex robots, or even have romantic relationships with these types of objects.
Personality profiles helped us determine what people like, but also an inventory of how they express their emotions and behaviors, including in sexual settings. In our case, these questions revolve mainly around the willingness of these people to share erotic relationships, especially with robots.
Human/robot love: the future of humanity?
Looking at the results, it appears that men are more likely to engage in a sexual and romantic relationship with a robot. Dubé noted that men were more likely, in the questionnaire, to show enthusiasm for performing various erotic practices, and that their main motivation was due to the desire to learn about this type of technology.
During this study, the researchers did not want to know the different sexual orientations of the 500 people questioned, but genders other than men and women were also more likely to open up to this experience.
Today, the sex robot market is geared more towards a straight male audience. Some robot models can be around $15,000 given the very advanced technologies used by manufacturers, especially in the work of textures and artificial intelligence.
For Simon Dubé, who presided over all this research, sex robot manufacturers have clearly failed to identify their potential female audience, despite the fact that the sex toy market is turning more towards this type of audience. This day, women do not feel concerned about the technological advantages of these types of robots, as they simply do not meet their needs.
